Sunday 21st October 2018 – Market Road Islington

Islington v Long Lane Terriers

Players: Toni Barnes-Warden, Christine Hepden, Becky Mullins-Ward, Eleanor Kovac, Sophie Hobbs

Long Lane Terriers women were back in action as they traveled to Islington for the first game of the season only having trained once since returning from the Summer break.

We only had five players for this match and that meant our outfield players took turns to go into goal. Islington welcomed us to their home ground at Market road and were also looking forward to playing the match.

Our captain Toni Barnes Warden put the goalies gloves on first and took up her position in goal. She managed to keep a clean sheet! Straight from the kick off Eleanor dribbled her way around the Islington defence and scored a low shot into the far corner. Our 2nd goal came from Sophie Hobbs who had three previous chances to score. Her perseverance paid off.

Second half and Toni came out on field and Chrissie went into goal. Eleanor had a good game and scored three more goals to make the score 5-0. Good performance from Chrissie and Becky at the back and a good overall team performance although a little rusty as was the Islington team who had also just returned from the Summer break.
